Ingredients:
4 medium-sized potatoes(Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes work best)
2 tablespoons of olive oil (or melted butter for extra flavor)
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
1 teaspoon of ground cumin(optional for a smoky touch)
1 teaspoon of dried thyme (or rosemary, if preferred)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
Prepare the Potatoes:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
Using a sharp knife, slice the potatoes into thin slices, being careful not to cut all the way through. Leave about 1/4 inch at the bottom of each slice so that the potato stays intact. You can place two chopsticks on either side of the potato while slicing to avoid cutting all the way through.
Season the Potatoes:
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Using a brush or spoon, generously brush the seasoning mixture over each potato, ensuring that the spices get between the slices.
Bake the Potatoes:
Place the prepared potatoes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake the potatoes in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the edges. Check occasionally and brush with more olive oil or butter for extra crispiness if desired.
Finish and Serve:
Once baked, remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool slightly.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired for a pop of color and freshness.
Serve immediately and enjoy the crispy, tender perfection of Hasselback Potatoes!
