When these came out of the oven, we accidentally ate 5 before putting out dinner!

Ingredients

Dumplings with Shrimp and Chives in a Baking Dish

Twenty 6-inch-diameter rice paper wrappers

– 1 pound of cooked shrimp, roughly diced – 1/4 cup of chopped chives – 2 minced garlic cloves

– Soy sauce, 1 tablespoon

– Sesame oil, 1 teaspoon

– 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, freshly ground

For greasing, you may use either olive oil or nonstick frying spray.

– Tamarind sauce (if desired)

Preparation

  1. Spray or lightly oil a baking sheet and set oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).

Chop the shrimp and mix them with the chives, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper in a bowl. Stir until everything is combined.

  1. Gently submerge a rice paper wrapper in warm water for about ten to fifteen seconds, or until it becomes somewhat pliable—but not too soft!—before using. Place it on a moistened, clean dish towel.
  2. Spoon about one spoonful of the shrimp filling towards the rice paper’s base, ensuring there’s enough room at the edges and bottom.
  3. Spread the mixture evenly over the wrapper, then roll it up firmly, like a tiny burrito.
  4. Arrange the dumplings on the baking sheet that has been preheated, seam side down. Continue with the rest of the filling and wrappers.
  5. Spray the dumplings with cooking spray or gently brush them with olive oil on top. They can get a beautiful oven tan with this!

Put the dumplings in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they become a golden brown and crisp. Near the conclusion of the baking time, be careful not to overbake them and ruin their delicate texture.

  1. Take them out of the oven, transfer to a cooling rack, and after a few minutes, top with your preferred dipping sauce.

Tips and Variations—If you’re looking for a vegetarian alternative, you may use finely shredded tofu or a combination of your preferred vegetables, like as cabbage and shiitake mushrooms, in lieu of the shrimp.

– A If your children do not like chives, you can simply replace them with green onions, which are milder, or you may use finely chopped spinach, which is another tasty green option.

– A For a delightful combination of sweet, sour, and salty flavors, try this entertaining dipping sauce recipe: combine a touch of honey with soy sauce and a squeeze of lime.

– A To save time, you may use pre-cooked shrimp or shredded carrots that you purchased at the shop.

– A If you handle the rice sheets individually and briefly dampen them with a cloth, you can prevent them from adhering or ripping.

– A Finally, include the whole family in making these dumplings! Everyone can have fun while eating supper when even the smallest ones pitch in with rolling and dipping.
