Here’s a simple, delicious recipe you can make using garlic, chayote, lime, and lime juice.

Garlic–Lime Sautéed Chayote
Ingredients
2 chayotes, peeled and thinly sliced
3–4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp lime juice
Zest of 1 lime (optional but great!)
2 tbsp olive oil or butter
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh herbs (parsley or cilantro — optional)
Instructions
Prepare the chayote
Peel it, cut in half, remove the small pit if present, and slice thinly or into sticks.
Sauté the garlic
Heat the oil/butter in a pan over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Do NOT brown it.
Cook the chayote
Add sliced chayote to the pan.
Season with salt and pepper.
Stir and cook for 8–12 minutes, until it softens but still has a slight crunch.
Add lime flavor
Pour the lime juice over the chayote and mix.
Add lime zest if using.
Cook 1 more minute.
Finish
Taste and adjust seasoning with more lime or salt.
Garnish with fresh herbs if you like.
Serving Ideas
Serve warm as a side with chicken, fish, or rice.
Add to tacos or wraps.
Mix into a warm salad with corn or beans.
